Bill’s Progress
The sad news that you have probably already heard or read is that Bill submitted his resignation to the Governor last week. As you can imagine it was a difficult decision but one he felt was best for himself, his family, and the people of Kentucky. Unfortunately he also suffered another setback and has been hospitalized for the last week with a broken collarbone he sustained in a fall. The good news is he is feeling better and is scheduled to return home tomorrow (Monday) and will resume radiation therapy shortly. The McAnultys sincerely appreciate the overwhelming outpouring of sympathy and support from all of you. Bill has read every comment left here and is humbled by the positive things you have written about him and the impact he has had on all of our lives. However, the next few weeks are going to be difficult for the entire family and they regrettably ask that you please send your continuing words of encouragement here in the comments rather than to them directly via phone or e-mail. In return we promise to update his progress here more frequently so that you can be with him "virtually" every step of the way.
Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers. It brightens his days and makes the fight just that much more worthwhile.

I write as a friend of your sister Jean, and though I have never met you, I have the sense that you’re probably as special as she is. You are in my prayers as you journey this very hard road. I trust that you know God is walking with you. And I hope your friend figures out a way to get that Manhattan into an IV!

Bill
Welcome home! I’m heading out today to stock up on “pate” — will expect you to devour every bite…. Know you will be resting and building up your strength for the next few days but would love to see you or talk by phone if and when you feel up to it.
Take care my dear friend - you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I have always admired you, both for your accomplishments and for your extraordinary sense of humor. In recent weeks, I have admired you even more. Like so many others, I am holding good thoughts for you, Kristi and your family. Best wishes to all of you. Hang in there.

Bill,
I hope you’re having some nice memories thinking about the large wonderful things you’ve accomplished in our community, and small acts of kindness. Everything from overseeing the selection of Tom Boysen, which was an act of imagination and foresight with countless benefits, to agreeing to sacrifice a Saturday afternoon in August for youngish friends who weren’t looking for a church marriage. Our 21st will be in a couple of days, and we’ll be toasting you. Warm wishes.

Please know that I’m sending good thoughts from my block of the street to yours. I’m also trying to figure out how to get a Manhattan into an IV.
